This chess set was created by inventor/designer Jesse Dean
in 1968. The playing pieces
were constructed using 428
lamp parts, one half silver, the other, gold. The board
is plexiglass with silver and gold discs and the carrying
case is a silver barbell, each side holding a color.
Over 250 handmade sets were sold in Neiman Marcus,
Jensen's, to other high-end stores and private
collectors from 1969 through the early 70's as well
as in the store of the Museum of Modern Art.
